KIND's Winter Yoga Retreat is all about slowing down and growing your personal practice in a beautiful, natural space.

We invite you to join KIND teachers Ellen Reesor, and Marg Drudge for three days of deep breath, mindful practice and beautiful community connection. A typical day will include yoga and meditation classes, options for indoor and outdoor group-based or personal activities, plenty of time for fireside relaxation, hiking on the 25kms of nearby trails, cross country skiing and snow shoeing.

Sugar Ridge Retreat Centre, near Midland, Ontario, is a new and unique facility located on 150 acres and surrounded by 3000 acres of public land with 25 km of trails, this gorgeous property offers many options for outdoor activities. Although only minutes from Midland, you will feel like you have retreated miles away.


Cottage AccomModations

Wilderness cabins near Midland, Ontario are perfect for a natural experience. When retreating, simplifying is important. Our cabins are intentionally simple, yet comfortable. Beds are comfy and duvets are snuggly. Each has lots of natural light, electricity and are heated for the cooler weather. They are nestled into the lush beauty and quiet of natural surroundings, allowing you to get out of the mindset of your everyday life. To keep the emphasis on reflection and “letting go”, the cabins are intentionally simple. You will not find a television or phone but rather a comfortable atmosphere to retreat from your everyday life, to nature, to community, to yourself… something that is truly a luxury these days! Washroom facilities are located in the main retreat centre, a 15 – 60 second walk from each cabin.



Early Bird Rate

Catch the early bird special at $395.00 (+tax) if you pay by November 30th.

Regular Rate

After November 30th, cost is $425.00 (+tax).

Price of the retreat includes:

  • Accommodation

  • All activities while at Sugar Ridge Retreat Center

  • Three vegetarian/Vegan meals a day

  • Healthy snacks, tea and coffee provided 24/7

Price of the retreat does not include:

  • Transportation to and from Sugar Ridge

  • Rentals of cross country skis and snow shoes. (Ski and boot rentals are available at the neighboring Wye Marsh Wildlife Center)

Cancellation Policy

If for any reason you are unable to attend our retreat, a full refund is available until December 5th. After December 5th a half refund will be given until December 20th.

Note: Due to limited accommodation, there must be a minimum of 4 male participants to register for the weekend retreat. If this minimum number is not reached, we welcome male participants to join us for the full Saturday on a day pass basis. Please inquire for pricing and details.

Also note that due to limited accommodation we cannot guarantee you will be in the same cabin as your friends. We recommend you send us a rooming request before January first to ensure your cabin arrangements.

*Please note that lodging arrangements are on a "first come first serve basis". We cannot guarantee that you will be in the same cottage as your friends. If you have a preference on lodging be sure to sign up early.

*Please also note that if you prefer private accommodation there is an additional cost. Let us know if you would like to upgrade your accommodations when your security deposit is made so that we can ensure that your needs are met.

Ellen Reesor


Ellen first found yoga at the age of 14 and quickly fell in love with the way it made her feel. After countless hours of practice she went on to complete a 200-hour YTT in Hatha yoga and a 500 hour Moksha Yoga teacher training as well as a 100 hour Moksha Yoga Flow training. Ellen is currently enrolled in a 10 month Embodied Arts and movement Teacher Training and Mentorship Program through Spirit Loft Movement and Yoga Centre downtown.

Though Ellen was very appreciative of her past experience in yoga, she believed there was a major component missing in the yoga industry: a connection with nature. This lead her to establish the first nature-based yoga facility in the GTA on her family's’ farm, a facility based on her belief that practicing mindfulness and yoga in nature has a synergistic effect on our mental, spiritual and physical health. The power of both nature and yoga together is greater than the sum of each individually. Over the years, yoga and nature has deeply enriched her life and she continues to find fulfillment in helping others to find the same joy that it has brought her.


Marg Drudge


I believe that the way we move matters...

That our bodies benefit tremendously from the mindful shapes they are encouraged to take in a yoga practice.

I also know that we love to be challenged - even encouraged - to do a little more - perhaps even a little faster - both on and off the yoga mat.

My invitation is to come to your mat and do less.  Slow down. Connect with your body and your breath.

Since starting my yoga journey in 2008 I have explored many styles and teachings of yoga. My mat keeps bringing me back to asana (postures) that nourish and heal.  That allow for mindful movement and profound respect for these bodies that we do life in.

Recently I completed a certification program in Yoga for Healthy Aging with a medical doctor from California.  This intensive training affirmed in many ways the practice that I have been allowed to guide at KIND Yoga by Heart.

SO - whether you are 18 or 88 - somewhere in between or beyond - you are invited to come to the greenhouse Mondays at 9:30am, to your mat and move in ways that matter and nourish your body and soul.
